Is the use of homeopathy safe?

One of the most important guidelines of homeopathy is to heal as gently as possible. There are no known side effects of homeopathic remedies, but an initial worsening may occur (see question below). If there are indications during the consultation that further investigation is necessary, we will refer you to your GP if in doubt.

Can you go to a homeopath without a referral?

You do not need a referral from a GP to see a homeopath.

Is the homeopathic treatment reimbursed?

Most additional insurance policies reimburse the treatment.

Do I receive several homeopathic remedies per day?

A remedy is given based on the complaints. Only at very low potencies should a drug be taken more often. Also, multiple resources are not provided at the same time.

What is a potential?

The potency indicates the strength of a homeopathic remedy.

Are homeopathic remedies made from plants?

Homeopathic remedies can be made from plants, animals and minerals.

What is an onset of exacerbation and should I expect it?

An initial worsening sometimes occurs after taking a drug. One or more complaints temporarily become more serious. Everyone responds differently to a drug and it is impossible to predict whether an initial worsening will occur. The homeopath often starts with a lower potency, so that the initial exacerbation (if it occurs) will not be great.

What can I eat and drink during a homeopathic treatment?

During homeopathic treatment, almost anything can be eaten and drunk. The use of caffeine can often influence the effect of a homeopathic remedy. This depends on the sensitivity of the person himself. To be on the safe side, the advice is to switch to decaf coffee or to moderate it.

Are there homeopathic remedies specifically for men, women or children?

No, all resources can be used by anyone.

Can homeopathy also be used during pregnancy?

That’s certainly possible. There are even midwives who specialize in this. Within homeopathy, this is often treated with some restraint, in order to allow the pregnancy to take its natural course.

Are there diseases that homeopathy cannot cure?

Homeopathy can only help with functional complaints. Diseases in which there is structural damage cannot therefore be solved. Furthermore, it is generally the case that the longer the complaint exists, the longer it takes for it to heal.

Isn’t homeopathy quackery?

According to certain people, homeopathy is quackery, because according to them homeopathy only has a placebo effect. In addition, homeopathy would prevent patients from going to the doctor quickly, making their complaints worse. It also paints a picture that homeopaths make a lot of money from homeopathic treatment. According to my own experience, it appears to work. However, what it can cure is limited. (see question above) Furthermore, patients are referred to the GP in the event of new complaints. As for the money, it is much easier to make money in other ways. Depending on the complexity, the proper preparation of a homeopathic consultation takes an average of 1 to 3 hours. The rate for the first consultation is 65 euros, the costs of renting space, administration and sending the product must still be collected there.

Is homeopathy equal to the use of homeopathic remedies?

In homeopathy, a similar remedy is prescribed based on the totality of a person’s complaints. This can be a homeopathic remedy, but that is not necessary. Conversely, taking any homeopathic remedy does not mean that it will result in homeopathic healing.

Can’t I just buy a homeopathic remedy at the drugstore?

Homeopathic remedies at the drugstore often contain several remedies (=complex homeopathy) in low doses. Because of this, it must be taken often. If it has an effect, you do not know whether the complaints will be suppressed or cured. In addition, you do not know which of the drugs has an effect.
